Anti-thyroid – Bilva leaves have been reported to inhibit the thyroid functions and decrease the synthesis and release of thyroid hormones – T3 and T4. On the basis of its anti-thyroid activity, Bilva leaves can be used in the management of hyperthyroidism and thyrotoxicosis.

Alleviates Pain & Inflammation – Bilva leaves attenuate the inflammatory mediators and thus alleviate inflammation, pain, and fever resulting from the same. On the basis of its above-said activities, Bilva leaves can be used in the management of inflammatory, painful, and febrile diseases.

Lowers raised blood sugar – Bilva leaves have been reported to lower the raised blood sugar by acting as a tissue sensitizer to insulin. It can be used in the management of type-II diabetes mellitus.
Bilva (Aegle marmelos)

Aegle marmelos, commonly known as bael (or bili or bhel), also Bengal quince, golden apple, Japanese bitter orange, stone apple or wood apple, is a rare species of tree native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is present in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal as a naturalized species. Aegle marmelos is a deciduous shrub or small to medium-sized tree, up to 13 metres (43 feet) tall with slender drooping branches and rather open, irregular crown.

Dosage:
Start it in the dose of 2 tablets 3-6 times a day, depending upon the severity of the disease and the body weight of the patient. On improvement, taper off the dose.
