Ginger is useful in indigestion, asthma, nausea and more. This plant is being cultivated in Malnad region of Karnataka since times immemorial.

Payasyā (पयस्या) is another name for Dugdhikā, which is a Sanskrit word referring to Euphorbia thymifolia (asthma plant), from the Euphorbiaceae (spurge) family. It is used throughout Ayurvedic literature such as the Carakasaṃhitā.

Yashtimadhu has been conventionally used by Ayurveda in the treatment of respiratory and digestive disorders. It is considered to be a "Rasayana". Mulethi uses specifically include treatment of chronic acidity, ulcers and chronic bronchial conditions. Investigations observed that licorice activates ulcer healing.

Cedrus deodara is used in Ayurvedic medicine. The inner wood is aromatic and used to make incense. Inner wood is distilled into essential oil. As insects avoid this tree, the essential oil is used as insect repellent on the feet of horses, cattle and camels. It also has antifungal properties and has some potential for control of fungal deterioration of spices during storage. The outer bark and stem are astringent. Because of its antifungal and insect repellent properties, rooms made of deodar cedar wood are used to store meat and food grains like oats and wheat in Shimla, Kullu, and Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
