Fractures / Osteoporosis / AVN An anabolic steroid in Asthi-shrinkhala stimulates osteoblastic activity for the formation of new bone. That results into the increased uptake of the minerals calcium, sulpher and strontium by the osteoblasts; the ossification and remodelling of the bone tissue; and formation of the new bone. On this basis, Asthi-shrinkhala is widely used in the management of fracture, osteoporosis, and avascular necrosis (AVN).

Osteo-arthritis / Degenerative Joint Disease Asthi-shrinkhala has been reported to stimulate the chondtoblastic activity. On this basis, it could be used in the management of osteoarthritis, cervical / lumbar spondylosis, disc dessication, PIVD, and sciatica.

Reinforces melanin formation Asthi-shrinkhala has been reported to stimulate the formation of melanin in the melanocytes. On this basis, it could be used in the management of vitiligo (Leucoderma).

Varicose veins / Piles Asthi-shrinkhala has been found to tone up the walls of weak veins (venotonic). On this basis it could be used for the management of piles and varicose veins.

Wounds & Ulcers Asthi-shrinkhala has been reported to promote ulcer healing. (Vrana-ropaka). On this basis it could be used for the management of wounds and ulcers, especially the gastric ulcer.

Inflammatory & Painful Diseases Asthi-shrinkhala has been found to relieve pain and antagonize the inflammatory mediators (Shotha-hara). On this basis it could be used for the management of painful and inflammatory disorders.

Bacterial infections Asthi-shrinkhala has been a weak anti-bacterial activity (Jivanuhara). On this basis it could be used as a supportive drug for the management of bacterial infections.

Amebiasis Asthi-shrinkhala has been reported to have anti-amebic activity (Krimighna). On this basis it could be used for the management of amebic infection.
