• Jyotishmati (C. paniculatus)

  

  Jyotishmati (Celastrus paniculatus) tones up the activity of brain and nerves, stimulates thyroid, increases libido in males, and lowers raised cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. On this basis, ayurveda doctors use it widely for treating mental depression, paralysis, dementia, IBS, erectile dysfunction, angina, low BP and low heart rate.

  Akarkara (A. pyrethrum)

  

  Akarkara (Anacyclus pyrethrum) is primarily used to stimulate the brain and nerve functions. It is particularly used as aphrodisiac for improving libido in males. In addition, it is used as a nerve tonic to increase the low neurological activity as in paralysis and neuropathy (due to diabetes). It is also used as a tonic for the heart and blood vessels, especially in treating low heart rate and blood pressure.

  Vacha (A. calamus)

  

  Vacha (Acorus calamus) is another major nerve and brain tonic of ayurveda, widely used for treating – mental depression, anxiety, convulsions (epilepsy), and pain. It is especially useful in children with delayed milestones and stammering. It is also used for treating asthma, high BP, and irregular heart beats.

  Gandira (Coleus forskohlii)

  

  Gandira (Coleus forskohlii) is an important ayurvedic herb that has been found to be useful in treating many diseases, including – mental depression, nerve weakness, paralysis, underactive thyroid, asthma, high blood pressure, degenerating joint cartilage (osteoarthritis), etc. It acts by increasing energy level; of most of the body cells by enhancing the production of cAMP.

  Dosage:

  Start ELEVA Tablet – 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day, on the basis of the severity of mental depression and the body weight of the patient. The dose shall be at the higher end in patients above 60 kg or more, or in those having severe depression. On the other hand, the dose shall be at the lower end in patients below 60 kg or in those with mild to moderate depression. On improvement, the dose needs to be tapered off to a minimum required dose.
