Widely known as Goma-booti, Dronpushpi (Leucas cephalotes) is a typical example of the drugs that are more popular among masses than the ayurveda doctors.

• Jaundice (Hepatitis): Commonly used drugs in jaundice / hepatitis are - Bhumi-amalaki, Katuki, Punarnava, and Kasani. Add Dronpushpi to this list. You will see that the improvement gers faster and better, in most of the patients. In a few days the patient begins feeling better, his/her appetite improves, yellow discoloration of the urine and conjunctivae reduces, and bilirubin levels start coming in the normal range.

• Piles / Hemorrhoids: Commonly used drugs in the management of piles are - Dugdhika, Ativisha, Daruharidra, Nimba, Bhallatak, Suran, Haritaki, and Asthi-shrinkhala. Adding Dronpushpi to this makes a lot of difference. In most of the patients, as soon as Dronpushpi is started, the patient begins feeling improvement. Within a few days the bleeding stops, the size of the pile mass reduces, pain and swelling (if present) become less, and infection (if present) alleviates.

• Viral infections: Commonly used drugs to manage viral infections are - Kalmegh, Bhallatak, Bhumi-amalaki, Guduchi, and Tulasi. But, do remember to use Dronpushpi, as well. Research shows that it has got potent antiviral activity, too. It is thus quite effective in various viral infections. One good thing about Dronpushpi is, in addition to its anti-viral activity, it lowers the fever (Antipyretic) and alleviates inflammation (Anti-inflammatory), too. All these actions make Dronpushpi an ideal drug in the management of viral fevers.
