Jivanti is a twining shrub with cracked bark. Its heart-shaped leaves are smooth from above and hairy below. Its root is used for medicinal purposes. Its root is widely used in low breast

• Low milk production: Jivanti have been reported to increase the production of milk. It is used in lactating mothers with low production of milk (Stanya).

• Male infertility: Jivanti have been reported to increase the production of testosterone in males. It is thus used in male infertility with low sperm count and motility (Vrishya).

• Female infertility: Jivanti have been reported to increase the production of estrogen in females. It is thus used in estrogen deficiency and the problems resulting from the same (Artava-janana). In addition, it has anti-implantation activity, too.

• Cancer: Jivanti has been reported to possess anti-mutagenic activity. It is thus useful as a supportive drug in the management of malignant disorders.

• Liver disorders: Jivanti has been reported to protect the liver against harmful substances (toxins / poisons). It is thus useful in the prevent and management of liver disorders, like - jaundice, hepatitis, fatty liver, early cirrhosis, cholecystitis.

• Oxidative stress: Jivanti has been reported to reduce oxidative stress by its anti-oxidant activity on the free radicals. It is therefore useful in degenerative disorders, including osteo-arthritis, osteoporosis, neuropathies, etc.

• Immune disorders: Jivanti has been reported to boost the immunity. It is thus quite useful for patients with weak immunity having recurrent bacterial infections.

• Bacterial infection: Jivanti has been reported to possess anti-bacterial activity. It is therefore useful in the management of bacterial infections.

• Asthma: Jivanti has been reported to possess anti-asthmatic activity. It is therefore useful in the management of bronchial asthma.
