Seeds are widely used in neuro-endocrine disorders.

• Parkinson’s Disease – Kapaikachhu is reported to contain L-Dopa, a precursor of dopamine, which is useful in Parkinson’s disease. It is useful in the management of Parkinson’s disease.

• Androgenic – Kapaikachhu is reported to enhance the production of testosterone. It is useful in the management of the diseases resulting from testosterone deficiency – low sperm count, low sperm motility, erectile dysfunction, etc.

• Promotes growth in teenagers – Kapikachhu has been reported to facilitate growth in teenagers by enhancing the production of testosterone from the testes, that in turn enhance the production of growth hormone from the pituitary gland.

• Kapikachhu (Mucuna prureins)

  

  Kapikachhu bears white, lavender, or purple flowers. Its seed pods are about 10 cm long and are covered in loose, orange hairs that cause a severe itch if they come in contact with skin. The itch is caused by a protein known as mucunain. The seeds are shiny black or brown drift seeds.The dry weight of the seeds is 55–85 grams/100 seeds.
