Ashvagandha (Withania somnifera)

Ashvagandha, a widely known medicinal herb for its antioxidant / rejuvenative / immuno-modulator, regenerative and tonic actions, has been described to normalise the abnormal vayu, that in turn brings about normal growth and development in children. Further, specifying its role to enhance growth and development in children and adolescents, it has been described as stimulates growth and development in children and adolescents. In addition, it has been described as it increases the physical strength of the children and adolescents. Furthermore, it has been specifically described to promote anabolic activity(growth) in children suffering from low / slow (stunted) physical growth. Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia)

Tinospora cordifolia commonly named as “Guduchi” in Sanskrit belonging to family Menispermaceae is a genetically diverse, large, deciduous climbing shrub with greenish yellow typical flowers, found at higher altitude. In racemes or racemose panicles, the male flowers are clustered and female are solitary. The flowering season expands over summers and winters. A variety of active components derived from the plant like alkaloids, steroids, diterpenoid lactones, aliphatics, and glycosides have been isolated from the different parts of the plant body, including root, stem, and whole plant. Recently, the plant is of great interest to researchers across the globe because of its reported medicinal properties like anti-diabetic, anti-periodic, anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic, anti-oxidant, anti-allergic, anti-stress, anti-leprotic, anti-malarial, hepatoprotective, immunomodulatory and anti-neoplastic activities.
Tulasi (Ocimum sanctum)

Ocimum sanctum also known as Tulsi family of the ocimum sanctum is laminaceae. ocimum sanctum are produced in India and Southeast Asia, India is the largest sources of medicinal plant in whole world. It is employed in the treatment of various disease such as antimicrobial infection, antifungal, anticancer, arthritis, chronic fever, antifertility, eye disease, hepatoprotective, antispasmodic, and analgesic, antiemetic. Cardio protective. This medicinal herb have also been shown to reduce blood glucose levels, making it an effective treatment of diabetes. There are many chemical constituent present in ocimum sanctum such as, oleanolic acid, rosmarinic acid, ursolic acid eugenol, , linalool, carvacrol, β elemene, β caryophyllene, germacrene. ocimum sanctum is considered to have diuretic, stimulant property. Volatile oil, fixed oil also obtained from the leaves of medicinal herbs. Monoterpene are obtained from the the volatile oils such as, camphene, myrcene, sabinene, in which some mono terpene produced oxygen such as linalool, borneol.
Pippali (Piper longum)

Pippali has been described as prameha-hara (anti-diabetic), dipani and agni-vardhini (metabolic stimulant), rasayani (immuno-modulator), katuka (pungent / anti-lipid), laghu (catabolic), medo-vinashini and kapha-vinashini (lowers tissue resistance to insulin). The anti-hyperglycemic and anti-lipidperoxidative effects of ethanolic extract of Piper longum dried fruits in alloxaninduced diabetic rats were studied. The blood glucose level, carbohydrate metabolizing enzymes and the status of lipid peroxidation and antioxidants were assayed using specific colorimetric methods. Oral administration of dried fruits has shown significant anti-hyperglycemic, anti-lipidperoxidative and antioxidant effects in diabetic rats comparable to that of the standard reference drug glibenclamide. In an experimental study, it has been seen to have bioavailability enhancing activity.
