• Chirayata has following major pharmacological actions and therapeutic uses -

• 1. Bacterial infections: Chirayata has been reported to inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria. These include – Gram +ve, Gram -ve, and anerobic bacteria. On the basis of its anti-bacterial activity, Chirayata can be used in the management of almost all types and degrees of bacterial infections, including – respiratory, urinary, skin, ENT, dental ophthalmic, gut, genital, articular, bones and joints, anorectal infections.

• 2. Piles / Hemorrhoids: Chirayata has been reported to benefit in piles, probably by decreasing blood supply tom the hemorrhoidal plexuses.

• 3. Immune disorders: Chirayata has been reported to boost the immunity. It is thus quite useful for patients with weak immunity having recurrent bacterial infections.

• 4. Viral infections: Chirayata has been reported to inhibit the replication of viruses. It is thus useful in the management of viral infections.

• 5. Fungal infections: Chirayata has been reported to inhibit the fungal growth. It is thus useful in the management of fungal infections.

• 6. Kidney disorders / damage: Chirayata has been reported to protect the kidneys against toxins and infective organisms. It is thus useful in the management of kidney disorders.
