• Erandmula has following major pharmacological actions and therapeutic uses -

• 1. Inflammatory & Painful disorders: Described as shotha-hara (anti-inflammatory) and shula-hara (analgesic), Erandmula is one of the primary drugs used to manage diseases having underlying inflammation and pain. It is therefore widely used in the management of inflammatory and painful disorders – arthritis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, dermatitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

• 2. Allergic disorders: Erandmula is reported to have anti-allergic activity. It is because of its saponin content that has mast cell stabilizing activity. It is therefore useful in the management of allergic disorders – nasal, bronchial, skin, food allergy.

• 3. Asthma: Erandmula possesses bronchodilator activity. This activity comes from its flavonoids content. It is therefore useful in the management of bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and COPD.

• 4. Diabetes: Erandmula has been reported to lower the raised blood sugar. It is thus useful in the management of diabetes type-II.

• 5. Bacterial infections: Erandmula has been reported to inhibit the growth of bacteria. It is thus useful in the management of bacterial infections.
