Cancer: Traditionally, Rohitak has been used for the management of tumours and cysts. Experimental studies have reported its cytotoxic activity against cancer cells, probably due to its Quercetin present in its bark. Rohitak thus could be used as a supportive drug in anti-cancer therapy, as well as, in the management of benign tumours and cysts.

Bacterial infection: Rohitak has been describes as rakta-prasadan (anti-bacterial) in ayurveda. Experimental studies on Rohitak have confirmed the presence of anti-bacterial activity in Rohitak, in a wide variety of bacteria, both Grame +ve and Gram -ve. It can therefore be an effective drug in the management of various bacterial infections.

Immune deficiency: Rohitak has been described as pliha-ghati and pliha-hara indicating its activity on immune system. Experimental studies have established that it modulates immunity. In addition, suppresses delayed hypersensitivity reaction. Rohitak, therefore could be used in the management of various immune and allergic disorders.

Inflammatory & Painful diseases: Rohitak has been described in ayurveda as vrana-hara, implying its anti-inflammatory and ulcer-healing activity.
